We are headed to the World Championship!!
Hello! This is where we keep you up to date on our preparations and experience at the WORLDS competition in Houston, TX! Hope you enjoy!
Today was the championship finale! We were able to take in a few FRC matches early in the day, see the Lego Education presentation and attend the Awards ceremony! We had a great time interacting with teams from around the world and cheering on our WI FRC and FTC teams before we started heading home. All in all, Worlds was a great experience!! Thank you to all our sponsors, families, fellow teams, supporters, and experts for supporting us along this journey!!
It was very stormy Friday which was appropriate because our team seems to bring "the weather" with us to any and all critical competitions! We spent the day meeting international teams, roboting, building a big Lego mural, collecting acts of kindness, playing the clothespin game, banana dancing, and closed out the day with swimming! The tables weren't as kind as they were on Thursday, so the team spent time triaging runs during the day (our normal state). We had a great time visiting with the FRC and FTC teams that stopped by and had special visits from some of our favorite FLL coaches! These special visitors even cheered us on in the stands! At the end of the day we packed up our pit and handed our cart over to the Hilltoppers after stopping by the RTR pit for some much needed shrink wrap.
Today was our biggest day at Worlds - 3 official practice runs and our robot/project presentation! Our robot did not disappoint, amazingly working right out of the pelican case and on the practice "practice" tables right away - this has never happened before so we went into our first real practice match on the competition tables pretty sceptical that this trend would continue- but it did! Hooray for basement dungeon reliability testing! The team logged their high (in competition) score of 455! How amazing! The robot/project presentation was a great experience as well, as the kids effectively conveyed their project and robot process and their project's impact during the judging session. All in all a very positive day for our team, capped off by swimming in the Hilton rooftop pool! Picture to the left sums up our feeling on the day. Back at it tomorrow!
Today was Pit move-in day! We got some help from FIRST WI and the Hilltoppers to get our oversized times to home base for the competition - an 8x8 space in a sea of 160 other teams! It look us a few hours before and after "spicy lunch" to set up our pit. The spicy part was accidental. Anyway, we then focused on meeting teams around the world - our favorites being Australia and Canada. After that it was presentation practice, collecting ribbons for our badges, eating, pictures, and more practice! Thank you for all your support!
Today our team travelled to Worlds! Some came early, and were able to sight-see at NASA. One of the favorite parts was to walk into a real spaceship! WOW! We also received our badges, took a walk around the George H Brown convention center, and had a dip in the pool.
What an April! Along with the fundraising (always fundraising!), we completed creation of our presentation materials, finished off the final C.R.A.B. box tweaks, filed a patent for our design, completed some robot tweaks, volunteered at WI FRC State and Udder Chaos competitions, and learned how to pack our materials creatively so they make it to WORLDS!! Can't wait to go!!!
Hello! In March we held a cheese sale to help fundraise our trip to competition. We sold 158 cheese! We also improved our robot and robot coding, as well as finally achieving 500 POINTS on our home mat! We also made 500 buttons to give away at competition, and made our final C.R.A.B. box. Right now we're working on integrating our H-bridge circut. ❤️ Team B.U.I.L.D. 44199
Hello! In February we got together to work on many things, including our presentation at a Marquette University Seminar, our Worlds iteration of our Climate Regulated Artifact box, Worlds posters, pit decorations and button making for competition, robot code iteration on the basement table, and posters to advertise our cheese sale! Attaching some fun pictures for you to enjoy! ❤️ Team B.U.I.L.D. 44199
