Waukesha TAC presents the 2026 Transition Fair on Tuesday, November 10, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the WCTC AJN Conference Center (800 Main St, Pewaukee). Stop by to explore valuable information and resources from community agencies covering post-secondary education, advocacy, health and medical services, recreation, day programs, and employment opportunities. This event is free, open to all community members and families, and no RSVP is required.

How to Develop a Life Plan for Your Child

Understanding ABLE vs Special Needs Trusts

• Topics Covered: The pros and cons of ABLE accounts versus Special Needs Trusts, alongside legal, financial, and benefits planning considerations.

Future Ready is an engaging and structured program to equip teens and young adults with disabilities, ages 14 to 21, and their families, with the tools and a plan for the transition to adult life.  Teens will build confidence, self-advocacy skills, and create a clear vision for their future. As parents, you will gain practical guidance on adult systems, decision-making options, and learn how you can support their increasing independence. Through expert-led sessions, peer learning, and planning activities, participants explore healthcare, education, employment, adult long-term care, community life, financial tools and skills needed for the real world.

This program is best suited for teens, between the ages of 14 and 19, who have a disability or special health care need, and are at a level of need to qualify for long-term support services. We encourage teens to attend with one or more parents and/or primary caregivers.

You will leave with a shared understanding of what transition means, concrete next steps, and tools to move forward with your teen in greater confidence based on teamwork.
