The Family Voices of Wisconsin website offers various learning sessions and resources for families of children with disabilities and special health care needs. The resources are provided in multiple formats, including on-demand learning sessions, videos, toolkits, and worksheets.
Key topics covered include:
Early Choices Matter: This section helps teach children with intellectual and developmental disabilities how to make choices to lead more self-determined lives.
Medicaid Made Easy: This training explains the complexities of Medicaid for children with disabilities, from funding to service reception.
What's After High School? This resource assists families with the transition of youth with disabilities to adult life, covering topics like employment, long-term supports, and public benefits.
Speak Up - Finding Your Voice: This session provides guidance on how to advocate for a child in settings such as schools and medical offices.
Introduction to Children's Long-Term Support Program (CLTS): This session gives an overview of the CLTS program and offers tips for making the most of it.
Your Voice Matters! Becoming a Family Leader: This resource encourages parents to become advocates in their communities and support other families.

The Waukesha Transition Advisory Council and Family Voices of Wisconsin is offering a FREE learning series called, "What's After High School," and it's designed to give families a broad overview of the transition adult life for young adults with disabilities and special healthcare needs. This series will be especially for families with students in the 14-21 age range but open to any parent who wants to learn and prepare for the future. The sessions will cover many important topics from guardianship and healthcare to college and employment options.
What: What's After High School Learning Series
Topics Include: An overview of transition, ADRCs, guardianship, healthcare, post-secondary education, employment and community life.
When: One session per month from September 2025 - April 2026 (full schedule on flyer to the left). The next session is Wednesday, October 15 from 5:30-6:45 pm
