Our goals are to guide students in acquiring the academic, career, and personal/social development skills as outlined in the ASCA Mindset & Behaviors that have been adopted as the school counselor standards in 2023.

Academic Development

• Students will acquire the attitudes, knowledge, and skills that contribute to effective learning in school and across the lifespan.

• Students will understand the relationship between academic achievement and the ability to choose from a wide range of postsecondary options.

Career Development

• Students will identify their interests, strengths, values, and skills and understand how these relate to potential career pathways.

• Students will use career assessment tools and labor market information to make informed postsecondary and career decisions. 

• Students will understand postsecondary options, including college, technical training, apprenticeships, military service, and workforce. 

Personal/Social Development

• Students will develop the skills through NC Portrait of a Graduate to think critically, communicate effectively, collaborate with others, contribute to their communities, and adapt as life-long learners.
