As combination fire departments, the Conifer and Elk Creek Fire Protection Districts rely on dedicated community members who volunteer to serve as emergency responders. Our volunteer firefighters and EMTs meet the same rigorous character, training, and fitness standards required of professional responders across Colorado.

Why volunteer here? 

Volunteers at Elk Creek Fire and Conifer Fire are valued members of the team, gaining meaningful experience, strong mentorship, and the opportunity to serve their mountain communities alongside dedicated professionals. Volunteers receive comprehensive training and ongoing support, regardless of prior fire or EMS experience.

Whether you are new to the fire and EMS field and bring your curiosity, commitment, and a desire to serve, or you already hold current firefighter or EMS certifications, we encourage you to explore volunteering with us. Residents of our districts who are interested in volunteering are invited to complete an interest form and attend an orientation session with their family and/or significant other.
