The requirements of this particular historical moment in which the human species is grappling with a global pandemic has forced teachers, students and their families to rely more, and sometimes exclusively, on educational technology. The acquisition of Information, Media and Technology Skills has necessarily been rapid.
In addition to evaluating educational technology tools for effective use in the classroom, digital or otherwise, I consider digital citizenship skills to be a key part of IMTS learning. As an historian familiar with the need to evaluate printed and manuscript sources, I teach my students how to evaluate critically the information they encounter in digital sources.
