Engineering in Action: Secondary School Students Wind Brushless DC Motors

Inspiring the next generation of engineers has always been a priority of the FEMM Hub. Up until now, our engagement with schools has focused predominantly on primary-aged pupils. Dr Dave Hewitt from the University of Sheffield has been the driving force behind our latest workshop, designing an activity where secondary school-aged pupils can rewind a brushless DC motor.

On Monday the 15th of December, 5 members of the FEMM hub team -Dave Hewitt, Steve Forrest, Jason Ede, Alex Herdea and Laura O'Keefe - travelled to Conisbrough to deliver the first workshop to students at De Warenne Academy.
