Hello everyone! It is my pleasure and joy to be teaching 7th Grade ELA at El Dorado Middle School! I adore working with kids to help them discover information about the world around us through reading. My wish is to help every student unlock the power and beauty of reading and writing. Reading and writing are the foundations of every other subject. No matter where a student stands in his or her reading and writing ability, my goal is to push them higher.

I earned a Master of Arts in teaching from the University of Central Missouri-Warrensburg. I am certified to teach Language Arts and English for Speakers of Other Languages, grades 5-8. I obtained my bachelor’s degree from the University of Missouri - Columbia. I taught 7th and 8th grades for the Kansas City Kansas Public School District.

This summer I moved to Wichita. The landscape is breathtaking here! The wide open, untouched natural beauty of Butler County reminds me of my family farm in Illinois where I spent a good bit of my childhood.

Speaking of childhood, I have two handsome sons. Ian is now 20, and Sean will be 18 at the end of this month. Ian is in the Army/ROTC and attends KU. Sean is a senior in highschool. Both of my boys played football and wrestled.

The rest of my family lives in Overland Park, KS and St. Charles, MO. St. Charles is my hometown. It is a historic and scenic riverfront town. I love it there, but I will not get into all that now!

For those of you with the fortitude to keep reading, here are more minute details about me. I have a dog named Mocha. She is an Australian Shepherd/Golden Retriever mix. She is fluffy and friendly. Art and music make the world a more beautiful place, and I appreciate them immensely. I also appreciate the natural beauty of nature, which is why I really like it here in El Dorado! If possible, I like to go outside with students because nature can be a great inspiration to writers. I enjoy outdoor activities, especially canoeing, kayaking, and hiking.

Now, you know a bit about me, and what makes me tick! I am excited to meet the students this year and help them discover the world through reading and writing!
