WHINE OR SHINE?

Are you a "rise and shine" or a "rise and whine" kind of person? Our childrens' view of the world is often dictated by the attitudes of the significant adults in their lives. We can't control many of the things that come our way. However, we can choose how to manage our reactions to those things. The great poet, Maya Angelo once said, " You can tell a lot about a person by the way he/she handles three things: a rainy day, lost luggage, and tangled Christmas tree lights" . What kind of person are you - a shiner or a whiner?

The key to projecting a positive attitude to our kids is mastering the art of being intentionally grateful. We are gifted with amazing things each and every day; if we choose to see them. When our focus is on being grateful, we naturally don't dwell on the negative. Make a practice, as part of your child's bedtime routine, to share three things the both of you are grateful for that happened that day.

You may be amazed at the difference it makes for both of you!
