Mrs. Tanner- 7th Grade Language Arts

OverView:

My classes will cover the reading, writing, language, speaking, and listening standards for 7th Grade ELA. A full set of the standards can be found at this website: www.corestandards.org/ELA-Literacy/L/7/

Expectations For Me:

1. You can expect me to treat you with respect and empathy.
2. You can expect me to explain the materials and give you adequate time to complete tasks.
3. You can expect me to create meaningful and engaging lessons to help you become a life-long learner.
4. You can expect me to provide necessary resources as needed.

Expectations For Students:

1. I expect you to treat me and your peers with respect and empathy.
2. I expect you to arrive on time to class and be prepared to learn.
3. I expect you to be safe and follow all the classroom and school-wide procedures.
4. I expect you to ask questions whenever you need additional assistance.
5. I expect you to finish all of your work by the assigned due date.
6. I expect you to take responsibility for your attitude, effort, and grade.

Grading Policy:

1. The expectation is that you will turn your completed assignments in on the assigned due date.
2. You will be allowed three free late passes. After the third late assignment, 50% of the total possible points will be deducted from any additional late assignment. No assignments will be accepted after two weeks from its assigned due date.
3. The school absence policy found in the student handbook will be followed. (If additional time or assistance is needed, please contact me before the new due date.)

Additional Information:

Extra Credit will be offered periodically. It is a good idea to take advantage of this opportunity whenever it is presented.

A long term project will be assigned in this class each quarter. Please keep in mind their due dates. Reminders will be given. However, it is your responsible to manage your time appropriately to complete the work on time.

Please ensure that every assignment you turn in has your full name, date, hour, and assignment name.
