Do first year students still use books during lessons ?
On arrival each student is handed an iPad. Although the iPad is considered as being an essential learning tool books are still widely used on a daily basis. Handwritten documents have still to be handed in as well.
Are students allowed to use their smartphones during lessons ?
The use of smartphones during lessons is not allowed for first year students up to 4th year students. At the beginning of the lesson students are asked to leave their mobile phones on the teacher’s desk . However, students may use their devices during breaks.
Are first year students allowed to be part/members of the harmony and/or football team ?
We offer up to 70 extra-curricular activities. Among these, some are rather aimed for older students while others are aimed for younger students. Nevertheless, all students are welcome and may be involved in activities of their choice.
Public transport.
The main bus stop for buses coming from outside the limits of Luxembourg city is next to the swimming pool, just a short walk from the main building. Buses travelling within the limits of Luxembourg City start their journey at Parking Bouillon. Parking Bouillon is opposite the main building and may be reached within a couple of minutes.
What kind of food is served at the canteen ?
The variety of food served at the canteen is huge. Several options are available :
Main menu, pizza, pasta dishes, asian food (wok), bbq, vegetarian menu, fruits and vegetables and other desserts. There are also a couple of restaurants and fast food options in the neighborhood.
What makes us different from others ?
While learning should always be center stage we are also deeply convinced that social interaction is vital as well. It is therefore important that learners are offered numerous opportunities in order to work together in larger or smaller groups. They should also be given the opportunity to work with other students for different projects that are on offer at LAML.
Are our students well prepared for their final exams ?
Our students’ final notes are above the national average. Most of our old students do emphasize that thanks to all the different learning techniques that are on offer at LAML they are very well prepared for their final exams and even beyond that point later on when they go to university.
What is the most important asset of LAML?
At LAML we encourage each and every student and offer them support whenever they need us!
Do we help students with learning difficulties ?
At LAML we believe that all students have a unique learning profile. The Support Services Team is dedicated to creating a positive learning environment that responds to diverse learning needs. Teachers, students and others in the community support students to reach their full potential and prepare them for lifelong learning as independent global citizens.
Are our students happy?
Most of our surveys show that the overwhelming majority of our students enjoy their time at LAML. Our students appreciate the fact that our teachers care and are concerned, particularly during these days of confinement and the covid-19 pandemic. In some cases there may be some minor issues but again our students know that they can contribute in order to address these issues via dialogue with our teachers and school principal.
What about the general atmosphere at LAML ?
The term “Aline Mayrisch family” is often used among our community. As with all families we have our highs and lows but generally speaking the atmosphere is very positive.
How do parents accompany their children ?
Parents are entitled to get in touch with teachers via email, electronic class register and/or through parent delegates.
How do teachers motivate their students ?
Personal involvement is key at LAML. Our teachers do their utmost in order to motivate their students. However, this has to be both ways ! Students must also be involved during their time at LAML!
