BEING A FIRST YEAR STUDENT

iPad

Since its beginning, the Lycée Aline Mayrisch is a one2one-school where all students receive either an iPad (7e bis 4e) or a laptop. This learning tool will be used in numerous classes and subjects. The aim is to be familiarized with it and to learn and use it effectively. The iPad is also essential when using the eLAML platform for homework etc.

Joint Class Teachers (7e-6e ESC et 7e-5e ESG)

Classes are run by two joint class teachers. Once a week a tutorial is organised in all classes.

Défi/Challenge (7e)

During their first year at school, first year students are invited to complete a personal project on a topic that can be in a variety of fields such as: music, arts, languages, crafts, natural sciences or community work. They are joined in their efforts by a group of teachers. At the end of the school year, the completed “challenges” are exhibited and a certificate is issued to the pupils by the headmistress during the official presentation of academic certificates, in front of the student’s parents and family.

Transferable Skills (7e-5e)

First year students are taught in the classroom how to do their homework, work with peers and on how to be efficient in order to progress.This learning process is continuous and does not stop at the end of the first year. These skills will be used and needed up to the 5th class and other projects.

Introduction to the English language

The student becomes familiar with the sounds of the language through various communication games and educational activities.

Hausaufgabenhëllef 

Tutorials are organised for individuals or smaller groups. This usually takes place after the lessons.

Welcoming our new students

Welcoming our new students and making them feel part of our community is a key moment. During these days the emphasis is put on getting to know each other and being there in order to help our students who make their first steps in a new environment.

Formative Report Card (7e ESC et 7e-5e ESG)

The formative report card is a written statement about the student’s work and progress. It includes numerous details about the student’s behaviour, work, interactions with other students etc. However the aim of the formative report card is to be constructive. It is issued in order to help students overcome potential deficiencies.

Electronic Class Register

The ECR gives students access to important information regarding homework, assessments etc.
