Welcome to my classroom! I am very excited to work with you and your child this year. I want to make sure that my classroom is not only a place where my students can learn the skills they will need academically, but also a place where they feel valued and safe. I believe that families are an important part of a child's education; by working together, we can help your child reach his or her full potential! We are in for a wild year and I will do my very best to keep things running as smoothly as possible. If you ever have any questions, comments, or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me!
All grades are given in percentages. Any time a student misses most or all questions on an assignment, I usually give them an opportunity to redo the page. Corrected papers earn back half a point for each corrected answer. I use the same correction policy on tests. I use rubrics to grade writing assignments that vary according to each assignment.
I keep a paper grade book and therefore usually upload grades to Power School in large batches. Any time you would like more information regarding grades, please let me know.
It is inevitable that at some point, kids are going to miss school for one reason or another. If your child is absent, they will be given any missed work. They will have as many days to make up work as they were absent. If work is still not completed after that time, students will work during recess and/or Fun Friday to complete it. If the student does not complete their work after a reasonable amount of time, they will receive a zero for the missing assignments.
