About me
My name is Mrs. Cara Owens. You might remember me as Miss Cunningham, but I got married in 2021! This is my twelfth year teaching kindergarten at East Knox Elementary, and I absolutely love this job. I could not imagine a better place to spend each day! I grew up in Reynoldsburg, Ohio and graduated in 2007. I got my Bachelor’s degree in 2011 from The Ohio State University and my Master’s degree from MVNU in 2013. I have two cats named Baby and Pippa. We have a 2 year old pup, named Grover.  I love to spend time with my family, playing with our pets, and spending time with friends. When all is quiet, I really love to sit down and read! We enjoy being outside and spending time in St. Petersburg, Florida with family!Â
I was out for all of last year because my husband, Mike, and I had twin girls, Mia and Charlotte. They were premature and in the hospital for four months, and came home with some medical needs. I am so grateful for the time I was able to spend with them.
I am thrilled to be your child’s teacher this year, and to help them learn, grow, and be the best version of themselves through our adventures in kindergarten!Â
My husband, Mike, and I have been married for four years, together for 16. We were engaged in 2019, married in 2021, and our twin daughters just turned ONE!
Mike is an Environmental Health and Safety Supervisor and also coaches boys varsity soccer. He just finished coaching a Club Ohio girls team, and hopes to go back as our girls get a little older.
We love to spend time with family, visit family in St. Petersburg, FL., and spend time with our friends. We also love spending time with our 3 pets, and seem to spend most evenings running back and forth in the yard with Grover, as the girls play!
When I met Mike, he was already an AVID Columbus Crew fan. Since meeting him, we have been watching the Crew together! We were season ticket holders and love going to games when we can. We hope to take the girls in a few years!
We are truly blessed by these wonderful people.
