Project Beyond the Surface is working with Rare Skin Condition Society (RSCS) (Singapore) to increasing empathy and understanding for people with visible rare skin conditions. Through their initiatives, they aim to reduce stigma caused by lack of awareness and promote inclusivity for this underserved community.
Advocacy
Increase awareness: Educational posts on two different rare skin conditions, Piebaldism & Ichthyosis
Reduce stigmatisation: Correct common misconceptions people have about those with rare skin conditions
Promote inclusivity: Share ways we can support individuals with rare skin conditions
Involvement
Keychain booth: Eunoians were invited to design keychains with encouraging and affirming messages for the beneficiaries
Interact session: Beyond the Surface collaborated with RSCS to host an interaction session with individuals with rare skin diseases, giving Eunoians the chance to talk to and learn more about them and their lives, beyond their skin conditions.
Project Into their Minds aims to raise awareness about the challenges faced by people with intellectual disabilities (PwIDs) and empower students to take active steps to support them. Working alongside Bishan Home for the Intellectually Disabled, they hope to challenge the negative stereotypes and reduce any unconscious bias associated with PwIDs, so as to foster a more inclusive society.
Advocacy
Raise awareness: Educate Eunoians on the challenges commonly faced by PwIDs
Reduce stigmatisation: Debunk myths surrounding PwIDs
Promote inclusivity: Encourage students to serve and interact with PwIDs
Involvement
Experience Challenge: By simulating expressive communication difficulties seen in PwIDs, Eunoians gained deeper understanding about the difficulties they face on a daily basis
Interact session: Eunoians also went down to Bishan Home for the Intellectually Disabled to interact with PwIDs through different activities, fostering empathy and breaking down preconceived biases students may unconsciously have about PwIDs
