Understands that copying the work of others, whether it be from a classmate or a print/internet source, will not help them to absorb and understand material they need to learn in order to progress in a subject.
Knows that copying may lead to no mark being given because it does not allow the teacher to assess their knowledge, understanding or skill development.
Knows how to reference in MLA8 style using a Works Cited page and providing in-text citations when the teacher asks for them to be included.
Never uses copy and paste in written assignments such as essays. Instead, they summarize ideas in their own words as notes, then write up their papers as a second stage, with a reference included for each source of information they have referred to.
Uses quotation marks when quoting exact phrases, which they attribute clearly to an author and keep limited in length.
May talk through an assignment with teachers and friends to make sure they understand a task, but doesn’t share their Google documents with other students, unless the teacher has approved this for a group assignment.
When it come to the research tasks completed for the IB diploma, you are expected to follow stringent guidelines to ensure academic honesty.
