Yes, this was my car for my first competitive event - a Peugeot 504. Lap dash at Oran Park on 23 Oct 1983.
Bought this in late 1983 to go rallying. It was a really bad car - absolute junk. I scrapped it within days.
Within a month, I built my own Peugeot 504 rally car. Just kept the cage, seats, wheels (and plates).
Wanted to go faster in 1984, so it was a Datsun 240Z. Plenty of fun and success. Amaroo Dirt Circuit.
Amaroo Park again - this time the main circuit
. Cresting Bitupave Hill. Loved that car and that track too.
I said "why not" to a nice Datsun 1600 in 1984 - competed in it too for a while. Oran Park
Sold my 240Z in late 1985 and bought a Mazda RX7 thinking it would be faster. It wasn't. Oran Park
Part of the first Wynn's Safari in 1985 as navigator in this Peugeot 203 with Garry Cooke. Difficult event.
Triumph Dolomite Sprint - earnt my CAMS General Competition Licence that day. Amaroo Park 1986.
Replaced the unreliable Triumph with an Alfa 1750GTV - my first Italian racing love affair
. Oran Park 1987
Divorced the unreliable Alfa. Bought a Mazda RX2 to return to dirt
.
Rallying was hard - I needed a coach.
