The school chaplain bridges the partnership of church and school, models Christ's teachings, assists with faith formation for staff and students, and organizes school masses and priest visits.
Chaplain
Kevin Haugan
kevin.haugan@eics.ab.ca
In Pope Francis' The Joy of the Gospel, he writes that Catholic Schools: “must be a place of mercy freely given, where everyone can feel welcomed, loved, forgiven, and encouraged to live the good life of the Gospel."
Everything in my role as school chaplain is rooted in that. Through a focus on discipleship and pastoral care, it is my prayer that the students of this school would not only feel that our school is such a place, but that they will be the ones who made it that way.
In alignment with our district theme, Rooted in Christ, Mr. Haugan runs a weekly prayer group at lunch called "Rooted". Students meet to discuss a variety of topics to grow in their faith and prayer life.
