Behavioral Health Treatment Services

 Performcare is the Contract Administrator for the New Jersey Children's System of Care.  Contact the hotline shown below for immediate assistance, 24 hours a day, 7 days per week.  All children under the age of 21 are eligible for services.  An Access Clinician will obtain information from you regarding the problem you're experiencing, discuss treatment alternatives, and schedule an initial appointment with a Licensed Behavioral Healthcare Provider who will conduct a thorough assessment to determine a plan of action.  

Performcare can be utilized in a variety of situations, ranging from seeking a mental health provider appointment, to a crisis. Please view below for more details! In a life-threatening emergency, please call 911.

Suicide Awareness

Suicide is a MAJOR public health concern, as it is a leading cause of death.  Within the past five years, the suicide rate has increased from the 3rd leading cause of death among youth ages 15-24.  It is now SECOND ONLY to accidental death.  Please see below for important information regarding prevention and response.

Substance Abuse

24% of adolescents between the ages of 12 and 17 have tried illicit drugs.  

86% of teenagers know someone who smokes, drinks or uses drugs DURING THE SCHOOL DAY

56% of teens have indicated that the main deterrent to using alcohol or drugs was their parents' disapproval and their concern of getting into trouble.

Dating Violence & Abuse

Dating violence is more common than people think, especially among teens and young adults: 1 in 3 teens in the U.S. will experience physical, sexual, or emotional abuse from someone they’re in a relationship with before they become adults.  Nearly half (43%) of college women report experiencing violent or abusive dating behaviors. Part of the National Domestic Violence Helpline,  LOVE IS RESPECT serves to empower youth to prevent and end dating abuse.

LGBTQ Information & Support

The Trevor Project is the leading national organization providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer & questioning (LGBTQ) young people under 25.

Eating Disorders

Eating disorders are complex illnesses that affect people of all ages.  The onset of eating disorders typically occurs during pre-adolescence or adolescence. Eating disorders affect millions of adolescents and young adults in the U.S. alone, and may result in serious medical complications.  Early diagnosis and proper treatment is important to promote recovery. 

Public Healthcare Information

NJ FamilyCare is New Jersey’s publicly funded health insurance program which provides free or low-cost health care.  Qualified NJ residents of any age can be eligible for NJ FamilyCare.  

Children of adults who are NOT eligible, MAY still be.

Theses sites provide up to date state and local information regarding food insecurity and financial assistance programs--there are many people who find that they need help with paying their bills, or may be in need of items; such as food, clothes, or other household supplies.
