Our library services over 1,300 middle school grade students and offers many books in a variety of reading levels and interest levels to enhance their classroom learning environment.
With students being issued their own Chromebook, the library has 8 computers for students use to access our online catalog and print.
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday - 7:55a.m. - 3:15p.m.
Wednesday (Early Out) - 7:55a.m. - 2:15p.m.
Library Rules of Conduct
"What behaviors we expect from STUDENTS in the library....
Current I.D. required - Students may ONLY check out library books with a current school I.D.
Food and drink - No food or liquids are allowed.
Electronic devices - According to school policies, the use of cell phones and other electronic devices are not allowed.
Noise level - Small groups talking softly are acceptable. Groups are limited to the four-chair-per-table guideline. Appropriate noise level shall be determined by library staff.
Physical behavior – Quiet behaviors that promote an academic environment are expected at ALL times in the library to maintain an atmosphere conducive to learning.
Violations – Violations of any and/or all of the above will result in a student being asked to leave the library for the remainder of that day. A repeat offense will result in loss of additional library privileges or administrative consequences.
Computers are for school-related work and Synergy access only. See the T. R. Smedberg Middle School Student Handbooks for the Elk Grove Unified School District's Acceptable Use Policy for computers.
Students must have a School ID to use a computer at the library.
(Student may also get a note from a teacher if no school ID is available)
Students must check in at the computer desk to be assigned a computer.
Students may print out their computer work at the library.
Up to 2 library books can be checked out for three weeks; most books may be renewed.
Photo ID cards are required to check out books at the library.
Students with overdue books or fines may NOT continue to check out books. Payment plans are available for lost items and fines.
No fines are charged for overdue days, as long as the book is returned to the library.
All consumables will be kept by students all year; unless you move to another site in our district, then all books must be returned.
District Textbooks and core novels need to be returned with your class, or if you are absent, on your own time.
