Teachers are required to take attendance in the classroom (Title 5, CCR 400-401; Ed Code section 44809) in Secondary schools each period within first 20 minutes of the period. Attendance must be taken daily.
ATD 806 – A class reminder email is sent out each morning. This is an autogenerated class reminder to any teacher who did not take attendance for the prior day.
Teachers can email pghsattend@egusd.net to correct attendance or submit missed attendance.
In the event the student/parent disputes the attendance taken in the classroom, the Attendance office will refer the matter back to the teacher. We will not override attendance taken by the teacher.
Students arriving to campus under 15 minutes are not given passes and will be sent directly to class to be marked Late by the teacher.
Students who arrive more than 15 minutes late without parent verification will receive a Tardy slip. Those arriving after 30 minutes or more are considered Truant not tardy.
The readmit slips/campus passes are for excused arrivals only (doc appt, illness, etc.).
Attendance disciplinary concerns should be directed to the VPs office.
A Google doc/Excel spreadsheet including the name and ID # of students participating in events/activities can be emailed to pghsattend@egusd.net. This format is not only helpful but also a time saver for the Attendance office when entering mass attendance. This method also supports more accurate record keeping.
Student ID #s are required when submitting mass attendance to insure the attendance is applied to the correct student record.
Advance notice of activities that will affect students' attendance is appreciated when possible. Parents receive automated calls beginning at 10:30 if their student has missed a class. In order to ease parent/student stress, we attempt to avoid unwarranted truancies when possible.
