What is student recognition?

Each month students are recognized for being positive, contributing members of the Cardinal community. One such recognition is that all staff members are asked to identify one student per month to Spotlight. These students have either displayed the traits of being R.E.D, made positive changes in their attendance, behavior, social activity, or grades. Staff members endeavor to make a one-on-one connection with students in order to build a healthy relationship. The students are recognized every month and receive a special treat to be picked up during lunch.

A second opportunity may occur on a daily basis. Staff members are given R.E.D cards to identify students who show Respect, Engagement or Dedication during the daily course of their day. When a student receives their R.E.D card, they fill it out and take it to the counseling office where they place it in the Cardinal RED box. Every week students are chosen out of the box to receive a prize. On Monday, the students are recognized in their Advocacy class and given the opportunity to choose from an assortment of prizes.
