TBEAR is an acronym that is utilized at KAMS to assist students in remembering all the necessary elements and information that should be included in a well-developed, single, body paragraph. This paragraph can stand alone as a complete development of ideas, or it may be one of several body paragraphs in a complete essay.
Each letter, in TBEAR, may require a single sentence in your paragraph or multiple sentences. Regardless, of the number of sentences within the TBEAR paragraph, it is a singular unit of writing. Each element of TBEAR is combined to create a cohesive paragraph.

While utilizing TBEAR format when writing, is a school-wide goal met within all subject areas, it is important to note that there are some distinct differences in the expectations of TBEAR in each class. Specifically, there are several distinct differences with the TBEAR paragraph in English and Social Science classes. While the format is the same, the letters in the acronym may mean something slightly different depending on the class. To help with the distinctions, English will refer to the TBEAR as the “English TBEAR” and Social Science will refer to the TBEAR as the “Social Science TBEAR.”
