We're back! After 20 years Satellite Club, otherwise known as Satellite and Rocketry is reviving at GETA. Aerospace Clubs aims to feel like all of the academy in one club, with tons of research, building and heavy focus on engineering and critical thinking, members will explore model rocketry, coding, drones, radio communication, and more!
In addition to launching pico-balloons, two teams have signed up for the American Rocketry Challenge which is the world’s largest student rocket competition, with over 100,000 middle and high school students in model rocketry. The challenge provides a yearlong opportunity to gain hands-on engineering experience by designing, building, testing, and launching model rockets to meet rigorous requirements. The program fosters leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving skills as students deepen their interest and passion for aerospace and STEM.
Some of the work we do
In order to create the highest flying rocket possible for the American Rocketry Challenge, Aerospace members need to repeatedly test propulsion systems that can be utilized inside of their rocketry.
The beacon is a scientific measurement device tat was sent 45,000 meters into the Earth's atmosphere with a PIco balloon. In a collaboration with William Zoggle, Aero Club can track stats such as time, latitude, longitude, temperature, and atmospheric phenomenons
Through the American Rocketry Challege, club members have the opportunity to gain connections to NASA and Astronauts! Aerospace club also works with experts from UC Davis and leaders in drone technology!
