The Franklin High School Library is located in beautiful Elk Grove, Ca and serves Franklin High School students in grades 9-12. It is a part of a joint library space which is shared with Toby Johnson Middle School, and also with the Franklin Community Library Branch of the Sacramento Public Library. Due to this special relationship between three libraries, both students and staff have access to books and materials available through all three libraries and the greater Sacramento Library interlibrary loan system.  

Services available to Franklin High School students and staff include book and textbook checkout, readers advisory, research databases, co-planning opportunities for teachers,  lessons to support multiple literacies  and  student research projects for individual classes, book contests and competitions, curation of websites or research materials, creation of LibGuide type research lists, Chromebook checkout and repair, a welcoming space to collaborate or study, and a board game and craft material collection which can be utilized during lunch or after school. 

Mrs. Runyan is the Teacher Librarian for Franklin High School where her Wildcat roots run deep.  Prior to becoming the librarian she served as a classroom teacher at Franklin for over a decade.  She earned her M.S. in Library and Information Science, and a Teacher Librarian Credential from San Jose State University, Science Teaching Credentials from CSULB, and a B.S. in Geology from Sac State.  Her favorite book genres include Fantasy, Romance, Mystery, and Horror. 

Recently, she served as the Website Coordinator for the SJSU Student Chapter of the American Library Association, and as an Teaching Associate for the first ever Kenyan Teacher Librarian Certification Course which helped to support school librarians and global literacy in Kenya, Africa.  

She is excited to be able to bring her prior experiences to help serve the literacy needs of the Franklin High School Community as their Teacher Librarian.
