We highly recommend that students take assessments online in SAVVAS Realize. There are several benefits:
Students learn how to take assessments online while using scratch paper to do their work or show their reasoning. Computer based assessment is how they will be assessed on state testing starting in 3rd grade.
Assessments are automatically graded, and teachers are provided with data such as item analyses to help plan for whole and small group instruction.
Assessments are customizable.
We also recognize that there are instances where tests may be printed at Print Shop (site expense). To assist, click below for full PDFs of topic assessments by grade level.
In 2023-2024, the required beginning of the year assessment for math in grades 2-6 was the Screener in the MSDA. The screener points you to a Diagnostic assessment, which gives more information about the student's current level of understanding in math. The Diagnostic is also required in order to use SuccessMaker. Directions to administer both the screener and the diagnostic within the MSDA are available here:

This document outlines components of the Universal Screener Assessment and how it connects to the Diagnostic Assessment.
