Safe, Responsible, Respectful, Resourceful
Dear Bobcat Families,
We are into the final stretch of the school year, and our students continue to show strong Bobcat pride. Congratulations to Ruff and von Miller’s classes, our Spirit Winners for the week.
C Track students begin their CAASPP testing window this week. We are proud of the work our students have done all year, and we look forward to seeing them show what they know.
This week also includes several important events. On Tuesday, we have the Batey Mart Ice Cream Party and the A/B Track Bugz Performance. On Wednesday, we have the Bugz Performance for Parents and our IEP/504/SST Day.
Looking ahead, we have a Fire Drill on June 16, the Hip Hop Performance Assembly on June 18, and the 6th Grade Field Trip to the Aquatic Center on June 18. Juneteenth is June 19, and there will be no school.
Please note that we will not have a schoolwide PAWS Assembly in June. Teachers will recognize June PAWS winners in their classrooms.
Thank you for helping us finish the year strong.
Every day is a great day to be a Bobcat.
Sincerely,
Will Jones

Parents, teachers, staff, and PTA members are all encouraged to nominate someone who has made a positive impact through their contributions to our school. Whether volunteering time, offering creative ideas, or supporting our students and staff, we want to recognize those who embody the spirit of "It takes a village to raise a Bobcat."
Nominations can be submitted via forms in the front office or via this link (nominate here) and are reviewed monthly. Recognition recipients are honored at track change assemblies and via our social media and newsletters.

Parents or guardians have the primary responsibility for appropriate standards of dress and grooming. However, as an educational entity, Batey Elementary School has the responsibility to establish and maintain standards of dress and grooming that support a positive, appropriate, and safe learning and teaching environment. These dress expectations align with the dress code for the Pleasant Grove (PG) Region.
The purpose of dress expectations is to facilitate education, not to inhibit any person’s taste in attire or appearance. Students should be clean and neatly dressed in a manner that is appropriate for the school setting, not hazardous to their health and safety, and not disruptive or distracting from the school's educational program. In addition, no articles of clothing, apparel, or school materials, including hats, backpacks, and binders, may have pictures, printing, or writing that is crude, vulgar, profane, sexually suggestive, racially, ethnically, or religiously intolerant, that contain images of weapons, tobacco, drugs, and/or alcohol, or which the school’s administration reasonably predicts will disrupt the learning environment.
Basic Principle: Certain Body Parts Must Be Covered for All Students
Students are required, at a minimum, to have outer clothing that covers and conceals the trunk or torso of their body from armpit level to thigh level at all times. The trunk or torso, including buttocks and chest, must be covered at all times, including when students are sitting, reaching, and/or bending. In addition:
–Straps or sleeves must secure tops with necklines that fall below the armpits.
–The hem of the shirt must cover the rib cage.
– Students must wear shoes at all times. All sandals must have a backstrap for safety purposes.
The school administration may limit or prohibit specific clothing that has been determined by law enforcement or gang experts to be affiliated with an actual gang. In consultation with law enforcement or other gang experts, the school administration may limit clothing or apparel when there is a reasonable basis to identify such clothing or apparel as gang-affiliated. Limitations and prohibitions on gang-related clothing or apparel will be applied equally to all students, and in no instance will a student’s clothing or apparel be identified as gang-related based solely on the student’s race, national origin, or ancestry.
