During the course of English 11, students will work on perfecting the reading, writing, and communication skills they worked on in English 9/10 in preparation for the ELA Common Core Regents, which they will take in January. Throughout the year, students will explore topics of American life, history, and culture through texts that are written by Americans, for Americans, about Americans. Students will use these texts to consider what it means to be a American, both historically and in our current time, as well as to explore their own opinions on how we can better ourselves, our country, and our world in the future. Students will also focus closely on perfecting their ability to write evidence-based arguments in preparation for their life after high school.
