Music Program Milestones in EESD

Music Program Milestones in EESD ~

Thanks largely to the passage of Measure T, H, EE, H and EESD’s commitment to support music in all Evergreen schools, EESD continues to offer:

·      Strong, vibrant middle school band and music programs in all it’s middle schools

 ·      5/6 grade band programs at all elementary schools

We are proud of the work EESD Music Educators do throughout the year.  They are caring, dedicated, talented, energetic, and highly qualified music specialists. Their music programs are respected and recognized regionally and throughout the state of California!

Highlights from EESD’s music program include:

 ·      Outstanding instrument fitting and parent orientation nights for incoming 5/6th graders at Chaboya, Leyva and Quimby middle schools. The goal for the fitting night is to match students with the instrument that will give the students the beast odds of success. It is great experience for students to “meet” and “try” out a couple of instruments before they decide which one is right for them.

 ·      All elementary schools offered one culminating concert at the end of the school year. Most elementary schools had band concerts mid-year.

 ·      EESD Middle schools consistently performed in highly acclaimed music festivals such as CMEA Band Festival, CMEA Solo/Ensemble Festival and/or Music in the Parks. They earn top award ratings of Excellent, Superior, and Command Performance as well as Esprit De Corps.

 ·      Chaboya Symphonic Band was invited to/and performed for holiday concert for shoppers at Eastridge Mall.

 ·      Select students from Chaboya and Quimby have performed with CMEA Bay Area Conference Honor Band.

 ·      Select students from Chaboya and Quimby have performed with California All-State Honor Band.

 ·      A high point for our middle school band program has been showcasing honor band students as they perform for EESD’s Reclassification Ceremony.

 ·      Culminating end of year extravaganza performances for all middle school music programs at each middle school.

 ·      All year band students are invited to play during graduation ceremonies at Chaboya, Leyva and Quimby. Both 7th and 8th grade band members have the honor of performing for their school and broader community during graduation.

I look forward to another exciting year and am proud to offer this exemplary program to students and families of Evergreen!
