K-2 Reading Assessments & Data
The Community Literacy Initiative of Reach Higher Shasta prioritizes early literacy development with a special emphasis on students reading at grade level by the end of third grade. Schools across Shasta County often share students; therefore, collecting county-wide data will provide a snapshot of how well our young readers are doing and increase the likelihood that our students have similar expectations and instruction in reading wherever they attend school. The purpose is ultimately to improve literacy by measuring key foundational skills, aligning instructional practices with the Science of Reading, and responding to struggling students more quickly in order to improve reading outcomes for all students.
