Packing List
The average temperatures in San José in May: high 80° Fahrenheit; low 63°.
In Dominical, the average high is 87°, low is 73°. Humidity averages 80%.
Suitcase:
1 - 2 pairs of pants (make sure they’re comfortable to hike in; can be worn more than one day)
6 - 8 short-sleeved t-shirts (no offensive logos or words)
1 - 2 long sleeved shirts (or more; protection against insect bites is important)
1 surf-type shirt (fitted/snug so that it doesn't interfere with moving through the water. Optional, but desirable).
2 - 3 pairs of shorts, if desired
undergarments/sock for 10 days
1- 2 fleece sweatshirts or jackets (easy and quick to dry)
1 easily packable waterproof rain jacket/poncho
1 - 2 sets of pajamas or shorts/t-shirt to sleep in
2 pairs of sneakers or hiking shoes (comfortable walking shoes, at least one should be waterproof)
1 pair of Keens-type sandals/old sneakers that can get wet and muddy for kayaking. Must secure to feet.

hat to protect you from the sun
Toiletries (include lip balm)
Large plastic bag for wet clothing (shopping bag size)
SUNSCREEN (reef-safe) (pack in luggage)
Mosquito/bug repellent (DEET-free), if desired (pack in luggage)
Carry-on (use the same backpack you will use as a day pack):
Passport (can be carried by appointed chaperone)
wallet
masks
books, puzzles/pencil, small games, etc., to do on the plane (don’t count on tv/movie screens)
tissues and hand wipes
sunglasses with case, if desired
glasses if you wear them
Epi-pen, inhaler, other medications as needed
Hand sanitizer and spare face mask
empty reusable water bottle (a must)
cash for water, food, souvenirs + $20-40 for airport snacks (US dollars are widely accepted; Costa Rican currency is colones)
