In RE, we've been thinking about light sources and how they make us feel. This links to a later question that we will discuss, 'Why is light an important symbol for Christians, Jews and Hindus?' We've worked in groups this afternoon to try and think about different light sources.
This week, we have been busy preparing our Christmas card designs. We know it's early but we have to get these in early!
This term's science is all about exploring everyday materials. This week we have been trying to work out which material would be best to help the dog cross the bog in the story of the Smartest Giant in Town. We looked at a range of materials and compared how stretchy they are. We also researched the different properties of materials around the school. We thought about how to make our tests fair and worked together to get the job done!
Year 2 went on a magic carpet ride around the continents, identifying whether something was a physical feature or a human feature. We explored many famous places, from the Amazon Rainforest in South America to the Eiffel Tower in Europe and the Great Coral Reef in Australia!
We've worked a lot on including adjectives within our writing over the last few weeks. We have written a description today. Here is some of our work:
We have loved using Atlases today! We were so excited about them!
Year 2 have enjoyed creating a gratitude paper chain together today!
In English, we've created Guy Fawkes wanted posters!
Year 2 had a DT day where we designed, cut and created our own 3D cars!
Year 2 have become photographers this half term. The children has learnt about close-ups, distance shots, action shots and everyone's favourite, the selfie! Here are some pictures of our budding photographers in action.
After finishing our Autumn 1 units, Year 2 had the chance to take part in some PE activities to developing team building skills, including lots of team work games and even getting out the parachutes! They also tried their hand at speed stacking. After watching the current world record holder complete the stack in 1.4 seconds, Year 2 tried their best to match that speed. We are not that quick yet, but who knows what will happen with a bit more practise?
