What is myBlueprint?
My Blueprint is a digital career, education, and life planning tool for k-12 students. It was initially designed to assist students plan their path after highschool, but has since expanded to include activities for students from kindergarten through to grade 12. The program allows students to complete personality surveys, set goals, build portfolios, track growth, build resumes, research careers and college programs, select classes, build budgets, apply for scholarships, and much more.
MyBlueprint was created by Gil Silberstein in 2005. A budding entrepreneur from a young age, Silberstein enrolled in the Honours of Business Administration program in the Ivey Business School at Western University with a plan to find a business partner and start a new venture.
As part of a class project he and project partner Eric Silber observed students trying to figure out which academic programs matched their future career aspirations. This observation, along with a lot of research, questions, and discussions with school students, administrators, teachers, and counsellors, eventually led to the development of myBlueprint.
MyBlueprint matches the opportunity in several key ways:

Help with college transition
Since transitioning to college after highschool is such a barrier for many students, especially those who are the first in their family to attend college (Edress, 2017), myBlueprint has added several features to make this transition easier. The program has partnered with colleges and the resulting partnership has allowed myBlueprint to add college application links directly onto its platform.
There is also a post-secondary section where students can select a career category which will bring up a list of Canadian post-secondary institutions which offer programs related to that career, along with information and links which lead directly to the program websites.
Parent and family engagement
The myBlueprint program offer the opportunity for parents and families to engage with their childs progress on the platform. They can view their childs posts, make comments, and view the college and career opportunities to thier child. As was mentioned in the opportunity section, research shows that their is a greater need for parents and families to be involved in their childs college and career planning process. MyBlueprint provides this opportunity perfectly.

Financial assistance
Funding is barrier for many Canadian students planning to transition to post-secondary. MyBlueprint has added direct links to organizations who offer scholarships, student loans, grants, and bursaries for students pursuing post-secondary education. MyBlueprint has also partnered with H&R Block to offer $30,000 worth of post-secondary scholarships to ease the financial burden that students face in making the transiton from highschool to college.
Next we will use a cube framework analysis to determine if investing in myBlueprint is viable in todays market.
