This is an interactive, online workshop. It will work best for us to keep ourselves on mute and to unmute when it is our turn to share.
I would prefer for us to have videos on throughout and hope this works out for us. However, it may work best for me to keep my video on throughout and to ask you to turn on your video when you are talking and during partner work.
I often record videos of workshops that participants can access after the workshop. I will check in with the group at the start of the workshop whether I will do this or not.
The primary aim of this workshop is for you to experience short, simple strategies that nurture self-care, creativity and connection. We will explore these with the following questions as a guide:
What is mindfulness?
What are the neuro-scientific benefits of mindfulness? How can mindfulness help me cope with challenges?
Which mindfulness strategies and tools can I use to nurture wellbeing and creativity for myself and others?
pen, pencils, markers, post it notes and some loose sheets of A4 paper. If you do not have all of these, no worries - paper and a pen will do!
an object that is special to you that was given to you as a gift. If it is too big to 'bring' have a photo of it available.
an object that is special to you and helps you to feel motivated and optimistic when you need a lift. If it is a place that you go to, then bring a photo.
beginner's mind and curiosity! It is possible that you may have tried some of the strategies before. It is also possible that the use of a google website and Padlet during an online workshop may be new to you.
awareness of your body's needs! I can’t sit in front of a screen without moving so I won’t be expecting you to do the same! I often position my laptop so I can stand during online meetings and workshops. You will know what works best for your body and are encouraged to attend to that. There will be times when I will stretch an arm (or a leg!) and encourage you to do the same.
The full website with workshop slides, is designed to function as a powerpoint, with an interactive tool that participants have access to during the workshop, via screen share, and after the workshop, by sending me their emails to be added to the website.
Direct access to the website and workshop slides is an added feature so you can have ongoing access to the tools. I will ask you to share your email in the Zoom chat so that I can add you to the website.
That's all from me for now. I look forward to meeting you at the workshop!
Stay well!
