BROCK B - GALLA OF THE ARTS PROJECT
ABOUT:
My main focus in media is generally focused around audio production and graphic design. However, I also do lots of filming and video editing. I tend to lean towards darker and heavier atmospheres when it comes to the messages, styles, sounds, genres and visuals of my work. This is mainly due to the fact that my preferred genres of music are typically very heavy and aggressive. My work typically comes off as "angry" or "violent" in nature, to the vast majority of people. However, behind the veil are stories that tell the tale of my pain, truth, suffering, joy, pleasure, and even absolute pure bliss. I find the expression of such ideas and experiences to be the utmost therapeutic and beautiful, because in my eyes I see it as a true and unfiltered representation of how the world is seen through the eyes of someone who is going through whatever they may be going through.
MY "GALA OF THE ARTS" PROJECT
My gala project is a EP consisting of 4 songs, as well as the album cover for the record, titled "Fight Culture". I have written (with the help of some of my friends from the band Ill Defined) , recorded, mixed, and mastered all audio in this project myself in my own bedroom. As the music in this record was not written purely myself, It is important to note that this is a showcase of my audio engineering skills rather than my song writing abilities. have also carefully selected and designed the album art myself in photoshop. Genre wise, this record is best described as "Post hardcore" Derived from old-school hardcore punk, and punishing yet melodic metalcore. The result of this fusion of sounds came out in a blast of energy consisting of ecstatic ups, and devastating downs. This record tells the stories of the social injustices of the current day, including our ever-destructive drug problem, the ever deteriorating mental health of the youth of today, and the impact that social media has on all of us, hence the derivative of the name "fight culture". These songs will likely be re-purposed in the future.
