Term 2 Week 9, 10, & 11
Literacy:
The students have continued to build their literacy capacity this term. This was demonstrated in their understanding of quotation marks or talking point. They also revisited conjunctions using the acronyms – FANBOYS to make compound sentences and understanding what each acronym means when forming a compound sentence with them.
The students further delved into characters building and writing morals for their own fable story. They demonstrated these understandings of the structure by writing their own story. They incorporated a problem in the story to teach their readers about morals.
They also engaged in the analysis of some fables by understanding the whys behind such a fable story. They also learnt how to make prediction of a story starting from the front page, beginning, middle, and end. They ended the knowledge of the genre by making different characters' masks and role play their favourite fable themes.

CBL:
The students completed the exploration and researching of the Big Idea - Discovery / Time capsule. The term's theme exposed the students to past and present events, toys, songs, and movies. They compare and contrast all these to understand the evolution of how things have changed. To showcase their understanding of the time capsule, they brought items from their past and present to share with their group.
Student Z shared a time capsule of the 3-piece suit he wore as a 6 months old baby during his parents' wedding
Student Q shared toys from when she was 2 years old and 6 years old.
Student J shared an old children's movie - Lion King of mid 90s and the BunBun BonBon story book
Student A shared her infancy picture with her parents on their wedding and picture of when she was in prep class.
Term 2 Week 7 - 8
Literacy:
This fortnight, the students have been exploring and enjoying the new genre – fables. These are short stories with morals, and the students have been exposed to different stories. They are using the stories to familiarise themselves and use to understand different ways to start sentences. They are also developing knowledge to analyse the story using - Who, What, Where, When, Why (5Ws) and Book Head Heart (BHH). As the students were developing the analytical skills with 5Ws and BHH. They investigated different sentence starters from the different fables they have read so far. This is helping them to develop the ability to form their own sentences using varying sentence starters and transitional words to sequence the story. Knowledge to expand their sentence was demonstrated in a prompt given to the students to practice with.

Maths:
In Number and Algebra, the students began learning about Australian currencies from the least currency to highest. They have been developing their understanding of mixing different coins to make certain amount in dollars. They now have the understanding that 100cents equal one dollar. In the process of acquiring this understanding they have been able to engage in pretend canteen order with a given amount. In geometry, students have continued to explore 2D shapes and how these shapes transformed when they are flipped. They are beginning to develop their mathematical language of a quarter turn and half turn. Also, they are establishing their knowledge of pattern of 2D rotations.

In CBL, the students are preparing to round up their work on time capsule.
Term 2 Week 5 - 6
Literacy:
In the first week of the fortnight, the students completed their learning on Cinquain poem and showed themselves as a budding poet in the making. They applied their understanding of the structure of this poem to their final piece of writing. In the second week, students began to delve into fable stories and they have been reading one fable story each day. The fable story has allowed the students to learn more about past and simple tenses, simple and compound sentences. As they explored fable stories, the students were developing their thinking abilities to understand the different kind of morals behind each story and form their opinions on the lessons learned.

Maths:
The students have continued to explore different strategies to solve addition and subtraction. In the first week, the students used number line to solve number equation. Students also used their knowledge of addition and subtraction to raise to 10 and 100 whilst some students were challenged to raise to 200. In the Applied Maths, the students are revisiting their understanding of 2D shapes. They learnt some vocabularies that they can use to describe and identify a type of 2D shapes.

CBL:
The students continued their learning discovery about the past and present. They delved into songs as a means of an art expression. They watched and listened to past movie song “Sound of Music” and most recent children song “Baby Shark” as an art. They learnt about the story behind these iconic songs and they were challenged to write some inquisitive questions about “Wonky Donkey”. As this learning curve is to expose children to develop their inquiry skills through asking question, they became little researcher in the course of it to investigate past and present stories.

Term 2 Week 3 - 4
Literacy:
The fortnight of week 3 and 4 saw the students explore acrostic and rhyming poems in their literacy development. They learnt about the structure of these poems and were able to apply the knowledge acquired to produce amazing poems of their own. The students use the poem mediums to build their vocabularies as well as revisiting the some of the parts of speech needed to write their own poem. In the course of the students vocabulary development, students were exposed to how to use thesaurus to help them develop awareness of more synonyms for specific word in the context that is used. These knowledge of vocabularies development has helped the students with wider range of similar and rhyming words through their understanding of phonetic sound.

Maths:
The students have continued to explore different strategies to solve addition and subtraction. They were exposed to part-part-whole, whole-part-part, and number line. They use their knowledge of facts family to explore the connection between addition and subtraction. In Applied maths, the students continued their learning of measuring length and area using available informal units within their classrooms.
Image measured with a chosen informal unit
Measuring own feet with a chosen informal unit
comparison of the areas and length of a given image
J H using counters as one of the informal unit to measure a length and area of a given image.
R S and A S using unfix block as one of the informal unit to measure a length and area of a given image.

CBL:
In this unit of learning, the students continued to explore the big idea DISCOVERY. They were exposed to the past and present of toys and games and how these have evolved over the years. The students use Venn diagram to compare and contrast to show their understanding about the similarities and differences of the past games/toys to the present games/toys.The students have the opportunity to design their own toys/games and wrote about their preference for it.
Term 2 Week 1-2
Literacy
Literacy: In the first week of the fortnight, students were exploring text (Poem), and listening to read aloud text about ANZAC TED. They practice text to self where the students express how they relate to the texts
The students have also been exploring and establishing their understanding of structure of cinquain and how to write an acrostic poem. These skills are been demonstrated by applying knowledge of some specific language used in these different texts. Therefore, they revisited the part of speech that include experiential learning both within the class and outdoor. Here, provocations were set in the classroom for the students to use their five senses to further develop the usage of adjectives. They went outdoor to explore and use their five senses again. The students began to learn about syllables, the breaking down of words into sound. This knowledge will be important for their cinquain poem. The students also learnt about synonyms which is helping them to understand different words that mean the same thing. In the acrostic poem, the students made words for SEA which demonstrate their understanding of theme.

CBL
Our big idea for this term in this unit is discovery. The students will be discovering materials from the past and comparing with the present using time capsule. They are developing understanding of the time capsule and therefore they will be gathering items. The students have so far been able to use digital technology to research the toys they usually play in the modern times.
