VCE Vocational Major (VM) is a 2-year program where students will study 4 units in each of the subjects Literacy, Numeracy, Personal Development Skills and Work Related Skills.
Students also study a Certificate II or III in a Vocational Education and Training course commonly known as VET.
To support and enhance student outcomes and pathways, VM students also have the opportunity to select a VCE subject that they are interested in.
Students may also have the opportunity to undertake industry work placement to apply their learning to the real world and gain an insight into what an industry pathway can offer them.
The VCE Vocational Major pathway utilises the applied learning pillars throughout the teaching, learning and assessment of student outcomes.

This approach emphasizes doing, experiencing, and connecting classroom learning to practical scenarios outside the classroom, particularly in ways that align with their future goals and interests

Students in VCE VM must complete a minimum of 180 nominal hours of a Certificate II or III VET course to meet the requirements of VCE VM.
VET delivered to school students are usually completed part time (1 day per week) typically over a 2 year period.
