100 Days Smarter!!!

It's hard to believe we're so far into the year, but Tuesday saw us hit 100 days of Prep for 2026! What a day! Our students and teachers all had so much fun dressing up to celebrate this milestone and participated in a lot of 100 themed activities during the day. We are so proud of how far our Preps have come in their first 100 days and just know that they'll keep amazing us with their progress for the rest of the year.

Welcome back!

We hope everyone stayed warm and had a restful and enjoyable break. The teaching staff have had a lovely rest and are ready and excited to welcome back our Prep students on Monday morning!

We have a lot of fun (and plenty of fantastic learning of course!) in store for our Prep students in Term Three including multiple incursions, 100 days of school, our first excursion, Book Week and Father's Day. We're excited to get started and are looking forward to catching up with everyone next week for Parent-Teacher Interviews.

Home stretch of Term 2!

After our two short weeks, we have found ourselves quickly approaching the last day of Term 2. We are sure you would agree that our Prep students have made some fantastic progress this term. We know a lot of parents have been really excited about the progress they're seeing in their child's home reading!

This term, we have been learning all about our story. This has included how we are different and unique, people who are important to us (our family and friends), what our family celebrates, where our family comes from and where we were born, how we have grown and changed, and what we do to stay healthy. This week we have been talking about being balanced, both emotionally and with our bodies through exercise and our eating. Children talked about 5 star foods (fantastic, healthy choices) and had a look at the Australian Guide to Healthy Eating (see below). We made some 5 star lunchboxes and the teachers thought you might like to see some real-life examples we have seen in our classrooms:

A reminder that next Friday (26th June) is our final day of term with an early finish time of 2:30pm. It is also a fundraising day being run by the Student Council. Students will be asked to wear a beanie and make donations to support Motor Neuron Disease. 

The Prep Team appreciates all of your support this term and wishes everyone a very safe and happy holiday period. We will enjoy a rest and rejuvinating winter break and look foward to seeing everyone again on Monday 13th July for the first day of Term 3.

Does your child know our national anthem?

We sing our national anthem every Monday morning at assembly. Some of our Preps are starting to sing along which is fantastic. If your child doesn't know the words we have put them on our Handy Helpers page along with the music so you can all practise together at home. Advance Australia Fair!

Week 1 down

Our Preps have had a big first week back to start Term Two, getting back into school routines and continuing their learning journey. They will probably be tired this weekend with the adjustment back to school life after their holidays! During Developmental Play today a lot of our Preps chose to make a poppy to put in the garden for ANZAC Day tomorrow.

Home stretch of Term 1!

And just like that, we're only one week away from the end of the first term of school for our Prep students. Wow, what a long way they've come since their first day just a few months ago! The Preps have just about perfected our school routines and have learned all about our Inquiry topic 'How Do I Learn at School?' through every activity we have completed. 

Our Prep Newsletter remains your #1 source of everything you need to know about what is coming up in the Prep Learning Centre at TPS, so make sure you're checking every week, especially for our upcoming sound for sound items and show and tell items for the week. In addition, upcoming dates are in the calendar tab above for your quick reference and future planning. We are also in the process of updating our Handy Helpers and Home Reading tabs to assist you with some revision exercises you can complete over the holidays to ensure a smooth transition back into Term 2.

A reminder that next Thursday (2nd April) is our final day of term with an early finish time of 2:30pm. It is also a free dress fundraising day for the Good Friday Appeal and students are asked to wear purple and/or green (find/borrow what you can but if you have trouble free dress will be fine) and bring a gold coin donation. 

The Prep Team appreciates all of your support this term and wishes everyone a very safe and happy Easter and holiday period. Although we will be enjoying a break for some rest and relaxation (hopefully not too much work and chores), we will miss our wonderful students and will be excited to see their smiling faces again on Monday 20th April for the first day of Term 2.

With only two weeks to go until the end of term (remember we finish on Thursday the 2nd of April at 2:30pm), there is still a lot of learning to be done as we add two more letters to our phonics knowledge base and keep improving on all of our learning about being at school. Keep your eyes out for the newsletter every Friday to stay up to date on all the latest news and reminders.  

Templeton Preps are in full swing!

It's hard to believe that we're already past the half way point of Term One, although our Preps have already grown so much and are doing a fantastic job! This week has been a huge week for our Preps with a full five day school week, PMP, reading groups, Show and Tell, Mathseeds homework and school assemblies all starting, as well as our first Student of the Week awards. With all the action of the week, our Preps will be very tired and have definitely earned an extra day off with the Labour Day Public Holiday Monday. Next week brings more firsts with our first school photos, meeting our Grade Six buddies and our first dress up day.

Here are a few reminders to help make sure we finish the term strong:

• Ensure your child has everything they need for school every day (check the post below)

• Read with your child every day and sign their reading log book (don't forget the heart words!)

• Make sure your child completes their Reading Eggs and Mathseeds homework every week

• Talk to your child about their day and ask them what their favourite part of the day was

• Make sure they're getting plenty of rest, they might be ready to go to bed a bit earlier at the moment

• Ensure your child has a healthy lunch and snack for school so they are fueled for a big day of learning (don't forget a great breakfast)

• Check in with your child's teacher if you have any questions or concerns

• Make sure you're checking Xuno, our Prep Newsletter and School Newsletter to stay abreast of the latest updates and information

We thank you for all of your support at this very important stage of your child's schooling. By having a great start to Prep, your child will be well prepared to embrace all the challenges and opportunities that school brings.
