Test your capacity understanding with this extra homework (optional). Write the answer in your homework book for bonus house points.
In Grade Three, homework is handed out on Tuesday and is due the following Tuesday. If you have any questions about a homework task or require assistance, please ask your classroom teacher for help before the due date. For further information, please refer to the Homework Letter, which can also be found on the inside cover of your homework book.
Your weekly homework will usually consist of:
Home Reading
Spelling / Literacy
Maths (Essential Assessment worksheet, Matific, Maths Invaders or Matharoo)
Occasionally you will be given a project to complete as part of your homework.
Please remember to get an adult at home to sign off on your completed homework.
1. Home Reading
The title of the book must be written clearly on your chart (in black/blue pen or grey lead pencil).
A parent/guardian signature is required for each daily reading entry.
Remember neat presentation!
Show your teacher each day to receive a stamp.
2. Spelling/Literacy
Use a grey lead and red pencil only.
All worksheets need to be stuck neatly into homework books.
When answering questions, please complete them in full sentences.
3. Maths
Students are required to complete up to 30 minutes of Maths Invaders or Matific or a Matharoo or Essential Assessment worksheet each week.
If homework is not completed two weeks in a row, a Xuno note will be sent home to parents.
You will be required to take home a new reader every day and read it at home. Once you have read your daily reader, complete the reading chart (attached to your clipboard) by writing the title of the book that you read and obtaining the signature of an adult at home. It is important that you get an adult from home to sign off on your reading every day/night so the teachers have a record of your reading habits. Make sure you show your classroom teacher your completed reading chart/record each day, so you can change your reader and receive your stamp.
Remember to ask yourself, or get an adult at home to ask you, different questions before and after you have read your nightly reader. Below are a range of different questions to illicit deeper thinking and promote stronger understanding of the texts you have read. Inside the front cover, or on the back cover of your readers you will often find questions that you can answer too.
Why it is important to complete home reading every day:
