VCE 2024
The Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) is the certificate that the majority of students in Victoria receive on satisfactory completion of their secondary education.
The VCE provides diverse pathways to further study or training at university or TAFE and to employment. The results of the VCE form the basis for selection into the vast majority of tertiary courses.

VCE Pathways
At Edgars Creek Secondary College, students completing Years 11 and 12 complete the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE).
There are two options available:
Victorian Certificate of Education
Victorian Certificate of Education (Vocational Major)
Students can choose from either VCE pathway, and then opt to complete a VET and/or one or more VCE subjects.
Please speak to the Senior School team or Liam Ward (Leading Teacher - Careers and Pathways) to explore which options are best for you.
Frequently Asked Questions
Learn more about VCE and the new VCE VM changes
I am doing VCE and want to do a VET. Is this possible?
Completing a VET course is an option for students completing the standard VCE pathway. However, as the VET takes place over a day period, any regular VCE subjects scheduled during this time will be missed by the student.
Can I do an elective VCE subject as part of the VCE VM?
If you choose to complete the VCE VM pathway, you can still elect to choose a VCE subject. However, this subject will take place at the same time as some of your core VCE VM subjects, and therefore you will miss those classes at particular times.
I've heard about the VPC - what is it, and can I choose this option?
The Victorian Pathways Certificate (VPC) replaces Foundation VCAL. This is not a Year 11 and 12 equivalent certificate.
Where do I complete my VET course?
Our VET courses are undertaken at Peter Lalor Vocational College, as part of our partnership with the Outer Northern Trade Training Centre (ONTTC).
How many subjects do I complete in VCE?
Whether you choose a VCE (standard) or VCE (VM) pathway, you will need to complete six subjects per year. In VCE (standard), you will choose VCE English and five other subjects. In VCE VM, you must complete the core VCE VM subjects (Literacy, Numeracy, Work Related Skills, Personal Development Skills) as well as a VET.
