The following VCE subjects are offered at CSC.
English – VCE Units
Over the course of their two-year VCE program, students must successfully complete at least three units of English subjects, to be eligible for their VCE, including both Units 3 & 4.
No more than two English subject unit at Units 1 and 2 may count towards the VCE English requirement.
Our students have three English subject choices:
English (Units 1-4)
Literature (Units 1-4)
English Language (Units 1-4)
Students undertaking the VCE Vocational Major undertake Literacy (information is included in the VM section of the handbook).
VCE English is the choice of most VCE students.
Literacy has a vocationally orientated approach and is well suited for students who are aiming to directly enter the workforce upon completing their secondary studies. It is only available to students who are studying VCE Vocational Major.
English Language and Literature are more challenging courses in many ways. It is possible for students to take up Units 3 and 4 Literature, even if they have not done Units 1 and 2 but undertaking Units 1 and 2 is preferable for success at Units 3 and 4. Students are not advised to undertake Units 3 and 4 English Language without having successfully completed Unit 1.
Students can undertake more than one English subject and are encouraged to do so if English is an area of passion for them.
