Have a look at some of the books BSC teachers recommend :)
Enid Blyton's "The Magic Faraway Tree" magically opens portals to fantastical realms high up in the enchanted tree. Reading this novel taught me about the true magic of our imagination!
I loved P.L. Travers' "Mary Poppins" book series growing up. The whimsical adventures woven throughout the story turn ordinary moments into experiences filled with magic and wonder!
"The Overstory"
by Richard Powers is all about trees and the stories connect us to our elders.
Paulo Coelho's "The Alchemist" was the book of my travels last year; it mirrored my whimsical wanderlust.
"In The Quiet" by Eliza Henry Jones. It's a lovely, reflective story about a woman who has passed watching her family grow. So beautifully written!
"Artermis Fowl"
by Eoin Colter is a story about a 12-year-old mastermind who kidnaps a fairy, but the fairies are high-teched, armed and dangerous!
"Crescent City"
by Sarah J Maas is a bit of fun and a modern fantasy.
C.S Lewis' "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe". This series created a place for me to explore, wonder and revel in the magic of Narnia. C.S Lewis gave me the gift of seeing magic not only in Narnia but in the world around me.
Mr Peacock
"Fantastic Mr Fox"
by Roald Dahl taught me about courage, determination, and the magic of the natural world.
"Runner" by Robert Newton. I grew up in Richmond and love taking my mind back to that time .
"Jade City"
by Fonda Lee. This series combines unique magic based on recognisable physical properties, political intrigue and clan warfare in an incredibly original and captivating way. Patterns of magic in literature can be very familiar, so it's so intriguing to come across something fresh!
Mr DeLuca
"Captain Underpants" -
It was the inspiration for all the comic books I created as a child!
"The Hobbit" - J.R.R Tolkien's magical world of Middle-earth captivated my imagination, immersing me into a tale of courage and wonder.
"Tomorrow When the War Began" by John Marsden.
I find this book thrilling due to the wonderfully written characters, suspense in the story line, and the sensational story it explores.
"Circe"
by Madeline Miller
- one of the only Greek mythology books that empowers women!
Tim Winton's "Cloudstreet" - I love its descriptions of the Western Australian landscape and 1960's Perth.
The "Harry Potter" series - I just feel like I'm apart of their world!
Ms Forman
Katherine Paterson's "Bridge to Terabithia" - taught me the beauty and wonder in engaging my imagination as a young reader and continued to teach me valuable life lessons in accepting the things we cannot change later in life.
I enjoyed reading "The Adventures of the Wishing Chair" by Enid Blyton.
I liked reading
"45 and 47 Stella Street and Everything That Happened" by Elizabeth Honey when I was a kid!
