Digging is one of the main hand positions in Volleyball it is mostly used to hit the ball up in the air for your team mated to hit it after the other team spikes the ball down trying to get the ball to hit the ground for the point. If you don't know how to put your hands in this position then follow these next steps put your left hand out flat in front of you so your palm is facing up then put your right hand out with your palm facing up on top of your left hand then slowly out your thumbs together so there in the middle of your hands if your hands look like the diagram above then you have done it right if it looks a bit different then follow these steps again and see if it's better. this is the position your hands should be in when you dig in Volleyball.
This Video is showing what will happen when you dig the ball in Volleyball the main objective is to hit the ball up in the air so your teammates can set the ball and then hit it over the net and as you can see from the video the ball was hit up in the air and not too forwards or backwards but to your teammates. if you do accidently hit the ball forwards or backwards its ok because your teammates can still get there in time to save the ball before it hits the ground.
