Dear students, parents and caregivers

Year 7 students commence school on Friday 29th January at 8.30 am.

Students only, are to arrive and enter the Multi Purpose Center (MPC) via Forrest Rd.

Due to current COVID restrictions (maximum 30 parents allowed in MPC) and a year group of well over 200, we are unfunable to permit parents to remain on site with students. Parents should drop off Yr 7 students at the MPC entrance on Forrest Road. To maximise COVID safety it is recommended that parents do not gather outside the school gates.

If additional support is needed due to special circumstances related to disability, please contact the Head Teacher Special Education or Head Teacher Learning Support on 27 January.

In the MPC, students will meet with their roll call teachers, their Year Advisor, Head Teacher Year, and senior staff. An orientation program will operate over the first two days and on another day in the following week to ensure a smooth transition.

The canteen will be open on Friday 29 January.

COVID safety guidelines will apply at the College. Students will be expected to wash hands regularly, use sanitiser provided, not share food or drink with other students, and to sneeze or cough into their elbows.

If students are unwell they must stay home. If students have any cold or flu like symptoms they must stay home and preferably have a COVID test, remaining at home until the test results have been provided. Proof of results ie screenshot of message, is needed for school records for attendance.

NSW Health requires all students over 12 who use public transport to wear masks. This will apply to school buses. Your assistance in providing a mask will support your child’s travel to and from school.

Parents are encouraged to register online for: Sentral and Facebook, which are two of our internal communications channels. More information will be provided shortly on the Year 7 website on how you can join these channels when school commences. Information will also be provided on the canteen ordering system.

The Administration Office at Ryde Secondary College will re-open for 2021 on Wednesday the 27th of January for any enrolment matters.

The Year Advisor for Year 7 2021 is now Ms Deborah Marten, the Head Teacher Year 7 is Ms Natalie Stevens, and Deputy Principal for Year 7 is Ms Katerina Zito.

Please continue to monitor the Year 7 website and email system for further information until Facebook and Sentral are available for Year 7. Check out the Year 7 website at: https://sites.google.com/education.nsw.gov.au/year7of2021/home

In the meantime, enjoy your last days of the school holidays.

We look forward to seeing you on Friday 29th January.

Mrs Norris
