Preschool storytime
Join us once a term for Littlies in the Library – a special storytime session just for Thirlmere Public School parents and their preschoolers!
Come along and enjoy engaging stories, songs, and activities designed to spark a love of reading from an early age. It's a wonderful way to introduce children to the school library, meet other families, and build early literacy skills in a fun, welcoming environment.
We can’t wait to share the magic of books with you and your little ones!
What a wonderful morning we had at today's Littlies in the Library session! It was such a delight to welcome so many new faces, including lots of our 2026 Kindergarten students and their families.
The session began with a warm and relaxed reading time, as parents and children snuggled up together to enjoy a selection of books. We then gathered for storytime, where Mrs Grasso shared the delightful book Alpacas Picnic Panic by Matt Cosgrove — a fun-filled tale featuring Macca the Alpaca and his best-pal Al. The pair have been eagerly waiting for the perfect day to enjoy a picnic together. But when the sun finally comes out and the picnic begins, things don’t quite go to plan! We had lots of fun discovering what happened next and how Macca and Al handled their unexpected al fresco fiasco.
Next, we got our bodies moving with a lively dance to New Macdonald's Farm – A Picnic Song. The room was full of giggles, wiggly moves, and happy energy! Our pre-schoolers then got creative, colouring their very own picnic baskets and filling them with all kinds of colourful and delicious foods. It was a joy to see their creativity shine.
Thank you to all the families who joined us — we loved sharing this special time with you and can’t wait to welcome you back next term!
Our first Littlies in the Library session for the year was a fantastic celebration of Dr. Seuss Day, and it was wonderful to welcome so many families into our library space.
Preschoolers and their parents enjoyed a lively reading of the beloved classic Green Eggs and Ham. The story sparked plenty of giggles and curiosity, as children were invited to join in with the rhymes and repeated phrases – a great way to build early language and listening skills.
The fun continued with a musical movement session, where children got to dance and groove along to Seuss-inspired tunes. Laughter filled the library as our littlies jumped, twirled, and clapped to the beat!
To finish, everyone got creative with a Green Eggs and Ham colouring sheet to take home – great for that fine motor practice!
Thank you to all the families who joined us – your enthusiasm and energy made the day so special. We look forward to seeing you again next term for another joyful session of reading, play, and connection in the library!
