What an inspiring day we had at the Sydney Writer's Festival on Thursday 22 May 2025! Year 6 had the incredible opportunity to hear from five amazing author and illustrators: Joel McKerrow, Terri Libenson, Jacqueline Harvey, Jared Thomas and Katrina Nannestad.
A special highlight was meeting and hearing from Katrina Nannestad. Stage 3 are currently reading 'Rabbit, Soldier, Angel, Thief' in class, so they were thrilled to learn more about the powerful story behind the book and its real-life inspirations.
So may stories, so much creativity, and plenty of inspiration to take back to the classroom!
At 12:00pm on Wednesday 21 May 2025, students and teachers at Thirlmere Public School hit 'paws' on their day to celebrate National Simultaneous Storytime!
This year the featured book was 'The Truck Cat', written by Deborah Frenkel and illustrated by Danny Snell.
Every student received a special bookmark to mark the occasion, and our library even had a surprise visit from the story's main characters - Tinka and Yacoub (aka Mrs Grasso)!
We loved coming together to celebrate gthe joy of reading.
Mark your calendars – the Scholastic Book Fair is rolling into our school from Wednesday 14 May to Tuesday 27 May 2025!
With a fantastic range of books on offer – from exciting adventures to hilarious stories and must-read favourites – there’s something for every reader to enjoy.
Best of all, every purchase earns rewards that help us add new books and resources to our library.
Come along, discover your next great read, and help grow our school library at the same time. We can’t wait to see you there!
What an amazing Dr. Seuss Day we had at Thirlmere Public School on Monday 3 March 2025! It was wonderful to see our school community come together to celebrate the joy of reading.
As we gathered together for our Monday morning assembly, it truly looked as though our favourite Dr. Seuss characters had come to life!
Students enjoyed posing in front of our photo booth and it was fantastic to see parents in the library reading aloud to their children, and have our siblings join us for Littlies in the Library!
A big shout out and thank you to our talented Canteen staff. They joined in on the fun and created some spectacular bookish treats for our students to enjoy.
It was a wonderful day and I look forward to celebrating many more literary events with our wonderful school community this year.
