What a spectacular celebration we enjoyed on Monday 2 March 2026 for Dr. Seuss Day at Thirlmere Public School! From the moment students arrived, there was a buzz of excitement as our playground transformed into a parade of stripes, hats, tutus, Things, and Truffula Trees.
Our morning assembly was a sea of colour and creativity. It truly felt as though the pages of a Dr. Seuss classic had sprung to life before our eyes! Students proudly showcased their imaginative costumes, reminding us that reading inspires creativity, confidence and joy.
The Library opened bright and early, welcoming families to share a book together before the bell. It was incredibly special to see parents, grandparents and siblings curled up with a story, modelling the love of reading that we value so deeply at TPS. Our Littlies in the Library guests added an extra layer of magic, joining us dressed in Seuss-inspired outfits and sharing in the fun.
Throughout the day, classes revisited favourite Dr. Seuss stories, exploring rhythm, rhyme and the playful use of language that has captivated generations of readers. Laughter echoed through the Library as students experimented with tongue-twisters, rhyming challenges and creative writing inspired by Dr. Seuss’ imaginative worlds.
A huge thank you to our wonderful Canteen staff who once again outdid themselves with themed treats that were almost too fun to eat! Your enthusiasm helped make the day feel like a true celebration.
Most importantly, Dr. Seuss Day reminded us of the powerful message behind the fun:
“The more that you read, the more things you will know.
The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.”
Thank you to our entire school community for embracing the spirit of the day. I am so proud of how our students continue to celebrate reading with such excitement and heart.
Here’s to many more magical literary moments in our Library this year! 🎉
