We operate Wesley Out of School Hours Care (Wesley OOSH) at Wyong and are committed to providing high-quality care for children.
Over the course of term 2 in OOSH, we have been keeping busy in a bid to stay warm during the chilly winter! We have had lots of opportunities to play and learn, with many indoor and outdoor activities available for the children.
Earlier this term, we celebrated Reconciliation Week with discussions and activities around recognising and respecting culture and place. We completed our “Bridging Now to Next” mural on our wall, where the children dot painted footprints to make a path, symbolically taking us from the present into the future.
We also had a great deal of fun with our Darkinjung Café, where the children enjoyed lots of hot breakfast foods for the chilly winter mornings. The children cooked and served food such as French Toast and bacon and egg wraps, and we even made bright pink dragonfruit smoothies as per popular request. On occasion, even our parents get to take some breakfast to-go!
One thing we have been particularly excited about is our new OOSH library. We were very generously donated many books which inspired the children to set up and run our own library. We are in the process of making bookmarks and bookbags for the children to use for our books when they take them home on Friday, and return them the next week. The children are very excited about being responsible for looking after the books, and taking turns being a librarian for our centre.
We have our winter Vacation Care coming up quickly, with lots of activities such as puppetry, arts and craft, and a visit from the Bush Tucker man for NAIDOC week, just to name a few! We are very much looking forward to having a fun (and hopefully warm) Vacation Care.
