Mitchell Welham
Dear Wyong PS Families,
It’s been a truly rewarding few weeks at Wyong Public School. I want to take a moment to acknowledge the incredible dedication of our staff, who continue to go above and beyond to create calm, engaging, and supportive classrooms. We’re seeing noticeable improvements in student behaviour and a strong, consistent focus on learning across the school. It’s clear that our collective efforts are making a real difference, and I couldn’t be prouder of our school community.
🐶 Pet Therapy – Starting Next Week
We’re pleased to announce that Doggie Dates will commence their pet therapy program at our school from next Wednesday. Sessions will run for an hour during the middle session and will be targeted to selected students. All therapy dogs are fully trained and certified, and the Department of Education risk assessment has been completed.
If your child has allergies or a fear of dogs, please notify the school office as soon as possible so we can make any necessary adjustments.
🗣️ ES1 Public Speaking Finals
It was a pleasure to adjudicate the Early Stage 1 Public Speaking Finals alongside Mrs Marler. The students presented a fantastic variety of topics and demonstrated impressive confidence speaking in front of their peers, families, and staff. A big congratulations to all participants!
🎉 Education Week Showcase
What a wonderful celebration of learning and talent at our Education Week Showcase! We were incredibly proud of the diverse performances from our students, including our choir, dancers, and Aboriginal performers. Thank you to the staff who supported the event and a huge shout-out to the parents and community members who joined us. It’s always inspiring to see our students rise to the occasion with such enthusiasm and pride.
🌐 New Look Website Coming Soon
We are currently working with the Department’s Enrolment & Uplift Team to redesign our school website. Thank you to all who participated in our recent survey—your feedback has been instrumental in guiding this process.
📊 NAPLAN Success
Congratulations to all students who achieved high bands in this year’s NAPLAN assessments. We are proud to have a number of high-performing students across all year levels at WPS. These results are a testament to the dedication of our Learning and Support Team and the enrichment programs we offer to support student growth.
👋 Welcome to New and Returning Staff
Please join us in welcoming:

We’re excited to have them on board and look forward to the great contributions they’ll bring to our school community.
👶 Baby News!
Congratulations to Mr and Mrs Brechney on the arrival of baby Drew, born on the 1st of August. We can’t wait to meet the newest member of the Wyong PS family!
