Getting on Track in Time (Got It!) is an exciting early intervention program for students in Kindergarten to Year 2 (Early Stage One and Stage One) that will be implemented at Wyong Public School in Terms 3 & 4 2025. Got It! works in partnership with your school to provide a program that is aimed at building resilience and enhancing social and emotional skills.
Benefits of being involved in the Got It! program:
Getting help and support early to address children’s social and emotional difficulties will achieve better outcomes for your family and community.
Increasing the Schools focus on programs to support student wellbeing.
Got It! provides opportunities for children to:
Manage their feelings and behaviours both at home and school.
Learn to make and maintain friendships more easily.
Develop problem solving skills.
Become more confident and resilient.
Got It! offers parents:
Support in their parenting roles to promote a positive family environment.
New skills and activities to make a difference for their children’s mental health during this important developmental period.
Additional social and support networks.
Opportunities to build on the positive relationships between you and your child’s school.
The Got It! program has three main components:
All teachers will be trained in a whole-of-school program to support the social and emotional wellbeing of all students in the classroom. This program teaches the skill of Emotion Coaching and will support current wellbeing initiatives run at the school.
In addition to the whole-of-school program, a small group of families will be invited to participate in a 10 week group program which will run in Term _, 2025. The small group program is for one parent or carer as well as your child to learn together. Selection for this group is based on the results of a parent and a teacher based questionnaire, teacher consultation and parent interviews. This program will give families the opportunity to be part of a fun and supportive group that can improve their knowledge and skills in dealing with emotions, child development and behaviour.
During Terms 3 & 4, 2025 Got It! will also be meeting regularly with school staff to provide advice and recommendations to boost all students’ wellbeing.
We will be inviting all K-2 parents/carers to complete a strengths and difficulties questionnaire in Term 3, 2025. This questionnaire will assist in identifying which part of the program will most benefit your child and will be treated confidentially by the Got It! Team and the school.
