Term 2, Week 4, 2025
The term is humming along quickly, and many exciting learning opportunities have been happening both in and out of school.
I want to say a big thank you to Mrs Rogers for stepping in as relieving principal whilst I took a few days' leave to spend time supporting my own children in their various NSW and Australian sporting competitions, across various parts of the country.
It was lovely to receive numerous phone and email updates during the time, to stay in touch with all of the wonderful 'light bulb' learning moments happening here at school. I was especially excited to hear about such successes as Ella and Cobin taking part in the Zone Cross Country competition and Braxton joining the Tomaree PS Culture Group to learn more about his Aboriginal culture. These inter-school experiences not only introduce our students to peers in the wider community, helping them make friends and develop their social skills, but they provide a range of learning opportunities that extend beyond the regular classroom walls and building a rich, well-rounded education.
And talk about a cuteness overload! We had a special delivery today of Henny Penny Chickens; 3 live little chicks and several eggs in an incubator, to help our students learn more about the life cycle of animals.
We have a range of other interesting opportunities coming up for our students, too, including film-making and an excursion to be part of the audience for Star Struck.
Last week, I was extremely excited to join our primary students taking part in the Film By The Waters initiative at Irrawang High. Be sure to see and read more about this in other sections of this newsletter!
Beautiful water views from the principal's office!😀
Finally, what other school do you know of that can boast water views from every window in every building? We may not have anywhere dry for outdoor games at present, but we certainly can enjoy our wetland birds and wading in our gumboots!
Mrs Rogers and I had the pleasure of joining several other principals and executive staff from schools right across NSW at the ConnectEd conference in the Hunter Valley last Thursday.
With several guest speakers and workshops, it was a great opportunity for us to learn more about how to personalise learning in our school, drive exciting and effective initiatives and to meet service providers offering a wide range of resources, such as classroom and playground equipment, technological devices and curriculum programs that can be tailored to unique school settings like ours.
We both came away extremely excited and motivated to drive positive change for our students and provide the best possible learning opportunities and outcomes for all.
